The renowned Taiwanese picture book author, Jimmy Liao, has been creating for twenty-five years. His picture books, films, and musical works have touched readers from different generations. From 'Turn Left, Turn Right', 'Underground Street', to 'The Scenic Route', these works employ unique visual languages and words to capture the ebb and flow of emotions in city life, becoming familiar cultural landmarks for readers in Hong Kong and the Chinese-speaking world. Jimmy Liao's creations are not only classics in the realm of picture books but have also transcended mediums, being adapted into films, musicals, and animations. His keen observations and warm touch have moved countless hearts.

Authorized by Jimmy Liao's brand and co-organized by陋室五月 (May Holes), the Hong Kong exhibition 'The Little Lights We Met by Chance' will be held at the Harbour City Gallery from March 28 to April 19, 2026. The exhibition centers on the 'states of life', divided into three areas that utilize flat, light and shadow, and three-dimensional art to invite viewers to enter Jimmy Liao's universe and discover their own life circumstances and emotional resonances. The exhibition design echoes the three stages of life and employs different mediums to offer unique sensory experiences. Embossed techniques give the artworks a tangible warmth; night-light effects subtly emerge from the darkness, resembling the faint little lights in our memories; and a puzzle concept ties it all together—visitors can collect stamps throughout the gallery to create a one-of-a-kind souvenir card.

The exhibition will also launch a range of merchandise, including special edition rubber dolls, pin sets, eco-bags, t-shirts, plastic standees, collectible cards, magnetic mini lightboxes, and plushies, allowing the little lights to continue shining and accompanying you in every aspect of daily life.
